In an effort to get me writing regularly (and validate myself as the Kirby Expert) I've decided to write a series of posts about the various Kirby attachments. As you can see, I'm starting with the floor tool.
The floor tool is intended mostly for vacuuming hard surface floors including: tile, hard wood, laminate, and vinyl flooring. To do this you would put the hose on the front of the vacuum. Most adults find it easiest to then use it at the end of both wands, using the elbow as a handle.
The floor piece's thin shape, and 360 degrees of rotation allows it to easily reach beneath furniture and other areas that the power head cannot. This tool is intended to replace your broom, since sweeping leaves a lot of sand and grit behind dirtying up the grout, and the areas between hardwood or laminate pieces. Sweeping also gets a lot of dust and other harmful particles airborne leading to poor in-home air quality, which would especially effect those with allergies and asthma. By vacuuming the floor with the Kirby's floor tool, those harmful particles get trapped in the Micron Magic filter bag, where they won't contaminate the air quality.
I've also used the floor tool on the top of high book shelves or ledges while attaching it to the elbow piece toward the end of both wands. It seems strange, but because it has more rotating ability and that extra bend in it when compared to the wall and ceiling brush, I've found that it can better reach some of those difficult to reach places that are rather high up as well.
